Emil Tradeschi, CEO of Atlantic Grupa, on Entrepreneurship in Emerging Markets

Emil Tradeschi, CEO of Atlantic Grupa, came to Fuqua as part of the Distinguished Speakers Series (DSS) yesterday to speak on Entrepreneurship in Emerging Markets. The focus of his talk was on Managing and Financing business successfully. Emil started Atlantic Grupa in Croatia in the early 1990s. In the 20 years since starting the company, he has grown Atlantic Grupa from selling Wrigley Gum to being the second largest Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) distributer in south east Europe. Atlantic Grupa currently has $835 million in revenue and over 4300 employees. After the talk, Emil joined Fuqua students at a reception for more personal conversation and networking.

MMS at the Fuqua Technology, Entertainment, and Media Immersion Day

Today MMS, MBA, and MMCi students joined the Fuqua Center for Technology, Entertainment and Media (CETM) in the first annual Industry Immersion Day (video links at end). MMSers heard from and networked with industry thought leaders of companies ranging from McKinsey and PwC in consulting to IBM and Salesforce.com in cloud computing to Electronic Arts, Sony and NBC in media, among many others.

The talks focused on the value to companies of embracing new media and technology channels to improve business processes from an internal perspective and bolster revenue from an external perspective.

The following video links are the uncut recordings from the sessions today and thus include transition times and blank space. They are certainly worth the watch. 1) http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/12730430

New Year, New Classes!

I hope everyone enjoyed their break and is excited to start the new year with a new set of classes. We are well into the first full week and already it feels as if many people can't wait for it to be over. Hang in there MMSers! Just 2 more terms to go and we will be graduates. In the mean time, work hard and accomplish much.

Have a great term!

MMSA Holiday Party

The MMSA hopes that everyone enjoyed the Holiday party last night at Metro 8.  It was great to have all of us together so that we could mingle socially.  We truly do work hard, play hard.  There was never a dull moment as we were able to kick back and enjoy each other's company.  The laughs were a great way to end the term and to kick start the holiday season.  Just one more week of focus and we are all free to reconnect with family and friends the way we were able to connect with one another last night.  We can do it.

Good luck on finals everyone and happy holidays!

Gearing up for Winter Break

As we head into December things at Fuqua are getting busy for MMS students. In the coming week, MMSers will be giving in-class, team presentations as part of the Business Communications II course. For these presentations, teams will present for 20 minutes on business issues facing real-world companies. In addition to presentation preparation, finals are just 10 days away! During the past six weeks a lot of material has been covered in Foundations of Capital Markets and Spreadsheet Modeling and Decision Analysis, and finals are comprehensive.

MMSers are also preparing to take on Winter break. Many students have Winternships (Winter Internships) with companies in functions including Marketing, Consulting, Finance, or Management. The Career Management Center at Fuqua set up many of the initial contacts to help students make these Winternship experiences happen. It will be a great way for MMSers to get hands-on experience over the break.

Good Luck on Finals!
